In order for us to process an online order, we need certain personal information
such as your credit card number and e-mail address. Naturally, you want
that information to be secure and private. Below is a discussion of the
steps we have taken to keep your personal information secure, and our privacy
policy.
Here's what happens when you submit an online order with us:
No information leaves your computer until you click the
"Submit Order" button.
(Sometimes, pressing the Enter key while on the online order form will
activate the "Submit Order" button. Please use the Tab key,
not the Enter key, to move from field to field on the online order form.)
When you click the "Submit Order" button, the information on the online order form goes from your computer to a server at our Internet Service Provider. This information is sent via a secure (https) connection.
At this point, one of two things immediately happens:
Your order may be rejected because you forgot to fill in
one of the required fields. You will receive immediate
notification of the missing fields. This notification is sent via
a secure (https) connection. Nothing is sent to us.
If you completed all the required fields, you will
receive immediate confirmation of the information that you entered on
the online form. An encrypted e-mail message is simultaneously
sent to us with the same information. Both the confirmation back
to your browser and the e-mail message sent to us are secure. The
confirmation back to you is via a secure (https) connection, and the
e-mail message sent to us is encrypted using PGP (see below).
When we receive the encrypted e-mail message, we decrypt it and process your order the same way as if we had received your order by postal mail.
PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) is a widely-used encryption program. It is available for personal, non-commercial use as freeware from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). We will keep your information private. We will not sell to or share with any other party any of your personal information, except as is necessary to process your order. (For example, we obviously have to give your address to UPS.) We will use your e-mail address to contact you if there are any problems with your order. We may also from time to time send you e-mail messages containing news about our products. If you do not wish to receive such e-mail messages, please indicate so on your order or send an e-mail message to that effect to bputnam@sover.net.
